  13. The international file-system in ZyXELNET is coordinated by the
  14. international file coordinator (IFC) allways reachable at 16:16/3.
  15.  
  16. Files are hatched into ZyXELNet from central points.
  17.  
  18. These are:
  19.  
  20. Europe           :  Manfred Schramm, 16:100/401 (Region-Coordinator-Europe)
  21. Asia             :  Laurence Tan, 17:100/170 (Region-Coordinator-Asia)
  22. Northern America :  James_McOrmond,18:224/100 (Region-Coordinator-N.-America
  23.  
  24. each country     :  by _ONE_ system selected by the host (can be the host
  25.                     himself) except USA/CAN
  26.  
  27. USA/CAN          :  by something around 5 systems a country
  28.  
  29. for the nodediffs:  the nodelist-keeper (Manfred Schramm)
  30.  
  31. for the pointlist:  the pointlist-keeper
  32.  
  33. echodefs         :  IEC (international echo coordinator)
  34.  
  35. filedefs         :  IFC (international file coordinator)

  38. If you want your files to be hatched, send them crash to one of the above
  39. systems with a small note. This system then will hatch that file into the
  40. right area. The responsible sysop may decide to skip hatching of a file
  41. if it is buggy or simply not worth it, but they should be carefull with
  42. the second point.

  45. These Files _must_ match the following:
  46.  
  47. - NEIGTHER commercial NOR registered Software;
  48.  
  49. - Virus-tested with at least one of the actual Virus-Scanners
  50.   (e.g. Mc Affee's SCAN);
  51.  
  52. - has to be installable, and is "play-tested";
  53.  
  54. - BETA-Versions have to run stable;
  55.  
  56. - no junk in the archive(s) like BBS-Info's, dozen of example-graphics
  57.   etc.
  58.  
  59. - packed with one of the common Packers, with max. compression on.
  60.   DOS: .ZIP, .ARJ, .LZH, ARC, etc..
  61.   Amiga: ZIP, DMS
  62.  
  63. - description of that File at least in english language
  64.   or adequate online-help
  65.  
  66.   A File included in the Archieve named FILEID.DIZ enclosing a short
  67.   description will be appreciated.

  69. Node-/Pointlists and difference Files are at the moment packed with ARC (Level
  70. 5). We hopefully will soon change to another more effective packer.

  73. Announcing of files
  74. ===================

  76. in international echoareas there should be one system each zone, that
  77. announces new files to see how long the links take an if the files reach
  78. all zones. The echo, where these announcements are placed should be
  79. available for every system in ZyXELNET. I'd like to see sysop.zyx for this.

  81. Each country should have one system announcing new files in a _NATIONAL_
  82. echoarea. That can, but must not, be the host of each country.

  85. Routing fileareas into other networks
  86. =====================================

  88. NO ZyXELNET-FILE-ECHOS ARE TO BE ROUTED INTO OTHER NETWORKS!!!!

  90. We've built this network to distribute new files and messages with the purpose
  91. not to change anything in the files while routing them. Some of us are spending
  92. loads of money to get the files from zone to zone all over the world.
  93.  
  94. Any system, interested in our fileareas, should become a member of ZyXELNET.

  96. It is the best way to:
  97.  
  98.     1) control the way the files go
  99.     2) detect dupelinks
  100.  
  101. It it also a kind of honour to all the people in our net that help keeping it
  102. running.

  105. guarding this rules
  106. ===================

  108. There are several persons, guarding these rules (after each member of ZyXELNET
  109. should guard them by himself):

  111. NetFileCoordinator
  112. ZoneFileCoordinator
  113. InternationalFileCoordinator
  114. (see policy)
  115.  
  116. These different levels of Coordination are enabled to decide a exclision of
  117. members hurting these rules.

  119. What to do in case of members hurting these rules ?
  120.  
  121. Any member hurting these rules is to be demanded to stop this IMMEDIATELY.

  124. This demand should be made by the next higher-level system of the member.
  125. eg. Node <- HUB <- NC <- (NFC <-) <- ZFC <- IFC

  128. In case of further hurtings by the member, it is to be excluded from
  129. ZyXELNET-Nodelist.

  132. File-Echos are defined as follows:

  136. ZYXELROM   - new firmware for ZyXEL-Modems, all models. File-descriptions
  137.             include precise information for which modem the specific
  138.             version will work. These ROM-Versions are only hatched into
  139.             ZyXELNet if sent from ZyXEL-Taiwan directly and they are cleared
  140.             from ZyXEL-Taiwan for hatching (this is also for beta-versions).

  142. ZYXTOOL   - Software and Tools for use with ZyXEL-Modems
  143.  
  144. ZYXTEXT   - Textfiles, Documentations, Manuals, Batchfiles, and Release-Notes
  145.  
  146. ZYX_LIST  - ZyXELNet complete Nodelist's, hatched on a
  147.             weekly basis on each friday. List's are named:
  148.             Nodelist's :  ZYX_NET.A??
  149.  
  150. ZYXPOINT   - ZyXELNet pointlists hatched on a weekly
  151.             basis on each friday. Files are named:
  152.             Pointlist's:  Z_PNT.Z??

  154. ZYXDIFF   - ZyXELNet Nodediffs hatched on a weekly
  155.             basis on each friday. Files are named:
  156.             Nodediff's :  ZYX_DIFF.A??
  157.  
  158. ZYXADMIN  - All the files that need to be hatched for administration
  159.             like Echo- and Filedef's, policy, etc.
  160.  
  161. All ZyXELNET-fileechos are to be made availiable for every system joining the
  162. ZyXELNET.
